We truly believe that moving forward alongside The Consortium will allow us to improve our positive impact within the LGBTQ+ community as we continue to strive forward to create a more accepting world one step at a time.

Who are Consortium?

The Consortium for stronger LGBT+ communities is a national specialist infrastructure and membership organisation which works to strengthen and support LGBT+ groups, organisations and projects to ensure they deliver direct services and campaign for individual rights.

About LGBT Consortium Joshua Lloyd

History of Consortium

Unfortunately, little specialist infrastructure exists to support LGBT+ groups and organisations, in addition, existing voluntary sector infrastructure organisations have often failed to acknowledge or provide the right support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans plus projects.
Consortium was set up in 1998 to address these gaps and to nurture the development of an LGB sector. In 2003, the desire for greater diversity from Members saw Consortium expand its brief to include trans voluntary and community organisations.
In 2018, in recognition of the ever-increasing diversity of LGBT+ organisations, The Consortium included the plus (+) to proactively highlight their support for those LGBT+ organisations serving diverse parts of our sector.

Consortium’s Work

The Consortium work alongside their members through leading a wide range of diverse projects, networks and fund to ensure that LGBTQ+ people are catered for in an ever-changing world, whilst helping increase visibility and awareness to the community. Below we highlight some of the main ways in which The Consortium help members such as ourselves.
