What Is a Straight Ally?

A straight ally is an individual who identifies as straight (heterosexual and/or cisgender) and supports equal civil rights, gender equality and LGBTQ+ social movements. Most commonly, straight allies are inclusive of various diversity and often have many friends, family members or loved ones who identify within the LGBTQ+ community.

Straight Ally Pride Flag

The specific origin of the straight ally pride flag is unknown, however it is noted that the flag as created sometime in the late 2000's. The flag is a way for straight allies around the world to share their pride and support for the LGBTQ+ community and was created as an alternative to the rainbow pride flag.

Straight Ally Pride Flag Colours

The straight ally pride flag consists of six equally sized horizontal stripes in a black and white pattern with a rainbow triangle in the centre consisting of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple as used within the rainbow pride flag, the triangle point in the centre is to represent the letter A for allies and the rainbow colours to represent the LGBTQ+ community. The black and white stripes are to represent heterosexual and/or cisgender people.
